In early November 2023 there was unusual solar activity reported. By chance I had taken a few pictures two days before and two days after the maximum visibility of aurorae in Central Europe. But the pictures indicate that the solar magnetic activity that is released in the solar atmosphere as prominences and in the terrestric atmosphere as aurorae has essentially no correspondance to the sun spots. Yes, there are some of them, pretty complex indeed, but nothing that had overly excited me.
The sunspot that was lurking around the lower left corner on November 01st moved towards the center of the picture without undergoing any interesting development, but was followed by a nicely complex sunspot group.
One week later the performance faded at the other edge of the solar globe...
